The Office of Media Relations and Video Services serves two primary functions: to act as a liaison between the media and the College community, and to produce original video content that communicates the College’s identity to external audiences.
THE MEDIA RELATIONS TEAM has established relationships with reporters and editors in newsrooms both local and national and we work with them to generate positive publicity about College accomplishments. In addition to consistently promoting the College’s successes and impressive slate of faculty, we handle times of crisis - whether there’s an emergency that disrupts campus operations or a more complicated issue. We also serve as the primary contact for fielding queries from the media and make arrangements for interviews with faculty experts. The Media Relations staff uses social media to disseminate news about the College. Our news releases can be found on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube (in video form). We are part of the College’s Social Media Team and help to maintain the official College of Charleston accounts.
THE VIDEO SERVICES TEAM’s experienced videographers and audio specialists present high-quality video and audio productions to a nationwide audience showcasing the excellence of our faculty, our students, our campus and our college community. Our videos are both long and short format and focus on all aspects of the college experience from the student Quidditch team to ground-breaking marine research. They also serve as campus experts on video, post-production, illustration and animation in video.
